How long should a firmware update take for Apollo Cloud Duo?

Even with my high speed internet connection it’s been over two hours and the status of the Apollo Cloud Duo still says “Updating Firmware”.   I have OS upgrades and other firmware uogrades on several devices and components.  This is rivaling a full on OS upgrade in length of time. Is this normal? How often are they pushed out?

Hi J Bev,

If the firmware update is taking long time to update then you can try to logout and loing to the utililty and check if it is still not updated please try to uninstall and re install the utility.

I have the same issue, but it's been in "updating firmware" status for more than 12 hours.  The Cloud 2 works just fine (with the exception of remote Time Machine backups) but the status hasn't changed.  It shows this status in both the MacOS utility and the iOS utility.

I logged out and back in via the iOS utility and the status is still "Updating firmware..."  I then deleted the app from my phone, reinstalled it, logged back in and it is still "Updating firmware..."

What's the next thing to try please?

After trying all the same things you did, all to no avail, I called for support and the gentleman had me power off the Cloud 2 device (despite the same warnings I imagine you saw as well in the enclosed literature), then power it back on.  There may have been a few startup steps like when plugging it in the first time, but either way, powering it off then back on again did the trick.

I’ve had at least 3 occasions to do a firmware update since then and the device has worked flawlessly.  It would seem that this is a glitch that only shows up on the very first setup.
