HI, I can't get my Ultra133 TX2 to work under windows 10 64bit. I've upgraded the firmware to the latest version and tried the vista 64 bit driver with no success. I get an error code 10 device cannot start, an I/O problem. It does detect ide devices at boot and works in windows XP, so the card itself is functionnal. I know its an old card, but would be nice to have working. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
It is an EOL and legacy product. It would support Promise Hardware certified component only. There are qualified Ultra Family drivers up to Windows Vista 32 bit and 64 bit.
You could check user manual as below.(Go to www.promise.com > support > Legacy products).
Thanks!
Hi,
Yes I have the same problem as "ahha mappra".
Is it expected that a driver for windows 10 is delivered for the ULTRA TX2 family?
Otherwise, can we have a trick to make this old card work in Windows 10?
Thanks.
Hi,
Windows 10 now requires signed drivers. There are some exceptions.
One exception...
Exceptions
Cross-signed drivers are still permitted if any of the following are true:
- The PC was upgraded from an earlier release of Windows to Windows 10, version 1607.
Potentially if you installed Vista and loaded the Vista driver and updated to Win10, that might work. The Vista driver will probably work with Windows 7, most did, that would save one upgrade. The downloads page also has a 64-bit Vista driver.
This HBA is PCI and supports IDE drives, it seems likely that any IDE drive still in use must nearing the end of it's service life. Rather than spending cycles on this, it would seem more sensible to migrate the data to a new SATA drive and if necessary buy a PCI SATA HBA.
Am I the only one who thinks that Windows 10 is the best version of Windows out there so far?
I can see that you posted about your Ultra133 TX2 compatibility issue with Windows 10 three years ago. It's quite a challenge when older hardware doesn't seamlessly work with newer operating systems. You've taken commendable steps like updating firmware and trying various drivers.
Even though the thread is a few years old, if you ever require a Windows 10 key at an affordable price, you might find insights from this windows 10 key cheap Reddit thread valuable. It could potentially assist with any future Windows-related needs.
