Hello. I have a Vess R2600ti. Not long ago I reconnected to a new UPS (uninterruptible power supply). I have 3 power supplies. I decided to connect the power supplies to different UPSs, so that if one backup power source fails, the system will work on the second one. But the problem is that when I started checking this circuit, my vess beeped but did not start, although I thought that it would work on one power supply and report that the second one did not work.

Maybe I'm wrong. Write how the system should work if one power supply fails. The screenshot shows how I connected it to the backup power supply. And one more question: I have 3 power supplies (this can be seen from the screenshot) Which one is the backup power supply? If which power supplies fail, will the system shut down?

Hi,

The Vess R2600 uses what's called N+1 redundant power supplies. That means that N supplies are needed for the Vess to run and any power supply can fail or be offline and operation will continue. All three power supplies are connected to the power bus, two are needed for the Vess to operate normally. There is no power supply that is a dedicated backup.

From the look of it, connection 1 should work. Connection 2 will only power 1 power supply, which is not enough.

Probably it would be best to connect all three power supplies to one UPS.

Hello. Thanks for the answer. The fact is that when connecting 1, the system did not start and made a beep.

Another question: The storage system has 2 blocks in which power supplies are installed. I want to add a power supply to the storage system: is it possible to do this while it’s hot or do I need to stop the system?

And write the model of the power supply. Thank you.

Also, tell me, here are 2 blocks: 1 and 2, do they work independently of each other or does one reserve the other?

The power supplies are hot swappable, you can get the make and model from the label on the power supply.

Also, tell me, here are 2 blocks: 1 and 2, do they work independently of each other or does one reserve the other?

The power supplies are independant but are all connected to the same DC power buses, The power buses powers the backplane, the hard drives and the controllers. The controllers are independant, but when working in dual controller mode one controller (usually controller1) is the primary and the other is the secondary. So if one controller fails, the IO on that controller will fail over to the surviving controller.
