Are the Seagate Nytro 2532 Series SSD drives supported in the VTrak D5000 family?

Hi Dean,

Some Seagate Nytro SSDs have been tested...

The 3.84 TB SSDs have not been tested but they are the same product line so they should work fine.

Tried these and they are only being seen by controller 1 and therefore marked as not useable? This is even after a full reset and power cycle of the array and jobd's. They aren in a 5320 attached to the D5800F. Any thing to check command or log wise?

Hi Dean,

If you are using these in the 4 SSD cache bays of the D5800 make sure you have the SAS cables connected correctly.

If only one cable is sonnected then only 1 controller will be able to see the disks. The D5800 ships with 2 SAS cables for this purpose.

These drives are not used for cache. My 4 cache drives are already setup and working fine. These are simply physical drives to be used for storage. They are attached through a J5320 in 2.5 inch sleds which is attached to the D5800F. There are many other SSD in this JOBD which work fine on both channels. Only three of these new drives are having the issue. So it is not a cache controller related issue.

After researching further it appears these drives may be a budget model with a single 12GB SAS interface. So I assume these will not work in a dual controller active / active configuration as only one controller will be able to see the disk.

While these may work in a non HA - single controller configuration they do not seem appropriate for dual controller HA configs.

Hi Dean,

I was not aware that they even made single ported SAS SSDs.

But that being said, you are right, they will only be seen by one controller and will not be useful in a dual controller situation.

Promise did make adapters that made SATA drives dual ported, but you have SAS SSDs so they would not work in this situation.
