Hi all,

We are having some issues with our Pegasus2 R6, we noticed one of the drives had a red light about 2 weeks ago and were unsure of what to do so we did the worst - we left it and hoped for the best.

Just today, we noticed the fans were whirring at a high rate (probably due to the UK heatwave), so we took one of the drives out to dust it off and forgot to eject it properly, so it was force ejected.

Now we have two drives with red lights and no access to any of our files. Is there any hope for us?

I'll attach an image of the terminal phydrv as per advice from Frank Bosma on a different thread, but we are concerned as he mentioned that not a lot of time should have elapsed between the drives going down to force them back online. We do not want to lose our files!

Please help. Thank you!

Beth

Hi Beth,

You should probably contact Frank about this issue since you are in the UK and already in contact with him.

From the look if it it should be possible to bring the storage back online, but it will take a service report to determine the order of events.

Just today, we noticed the fans were whirring at a high rate (probably due to the UK heatwave), so we took one of the drives out to dust it off

You should never pull a drive from a powered on RAID array, that drive will be marked dead. Before dusting the Pegasus, please power it off and pull the power cord just to be sure.

The proper sequence of events for recovery is to force 1 drive online and start a rebuild on the other. But you need to know the order of events to find out which drive to force online and which to start a rebuild on. A service report is needed for this.
