My old Pegasus R6 tower will not mount on my new M5 MacBook Pro running Tahoe 26.5.1

It connects fine on a Sequoia 15.0.1 iMac we have

I installed the latest appliciable driver listed on the site which (was pretty old...)

R_MacDrv_V6.2.9

It states it is for Mac OS X 10.12 or later

I have not updated the Firmware yet, but as mentioned it operates fine on a 2019 iMac running Sequoia

No success so far

Hi Jonathon,

You should use the new DEXT driver for an M-series Mac. You can download it from this link.

There are some issues however, a Pegasus1 with the FCS firmware probably won't be seen by an Apple Silicon mac. With later firmware you may have issues with intermittant disconnects and the volume not mounting after reboot, the latest Pegasus 1 firmware should be installed if it is not up to date already,

If the volume mounts after installing the DEXT driver please install this Promise Utility and check the firmware version from the Subsystem tab.

The latest Pegasus1 firmware version is v5.04.000061. If the Pegasus has 5.04.0000.61 installed nothing else needs to be done. If the firmware is an earlier version you can use the Promise Utility to update the firmware to 5.04.0000.61, the link is to the firmware file.

This seems to have worked. You have saved my day!!

Current firmware is listed as 5.02.0000.69

If it seems to be working, should I still update the firmware?

Thanks!

Actually...My Macbook just self shut down and drives did not remount on restart as you predicted. I will update firmware if I can get it to appear again

Any tricks to get the drives to mount?

Several restarts and cannot get the drives to mount again.

When it was mounted the Utiliy said it was 100% good as far as all systems were considered

Hi Jonathon,

I would definately suggest upating the firmware.

As a fallback the Pegasus1 works with Intel Macs with any firmware version, so if you have an Intel Mac available you can use that to update the firmware.

Thanks will try

I get a FLASHING FAILED message when I try to update the firmware using my Intel iMac with Sequoia

Hi,

The Pegasus should boot OK with the previous firmware if that happens.

You need to use the Promise Utility in the link above to flash the firmware to a Pegasus1, if you use a newer Promise Utilility the firmware update will fail.

I am able to mount the Pegasus on the Intel iMac running Sequoia using the Utility from the link, but it will not update the firmware from it's current version which 5.02.0000.69. When I try I get the FLASHING FAILED message.

so far it will not mount on my M5 Mac Book Pro in this state other than one time after updating the driver you sent in the link, but after that I have not been able to get it to mount again on the M5

I still cannot get the firmware to update. I get the FLASHING FAILED message.

Hi Jonathan,

From a previous post this links to the Promise Utility you need to use and the proper firmware version.

----

If the volume mounts after installing the DEXT driver please install this Promise Utility and check the firmware version from the Subsystem tab.

The latest Pegasus1 firmware version is v5.04.000061. If the Pegasus has 5.04.0000.61 installed nothing else needs to be done. If the firmware is an earlier version you can use the Promise Utility to update the firmware to 5.04.0000.61, the link is to the firmware file.
