Getting these errors repeatedly in the log, and array is going dog slow.

A couple of questions.  I assume this means the disk ought be replaced ASAP...  and do I need to leave it in the drive until the new disk arrives?  Will removing it temporarily so it doesn't attempt to keep working with it speed the system up in the interim?

I ask that because for all intents and purposes as it stands we're completely down until the new drive arrives tomorrow, and then the rebuild process (another 6ish hour procedure) following that.

Command timeouts are evidence of the drive not responding. Disk resets are the Pegasus telling it to start again.

Normally in a RAID-5 it can get by with one disk removed, as long as all the rest are in good condition.

We'd like to move this off the forums and open a case with you at http://support.promise.com to make sure there are no other complications.

Please register your email address and login; then register your Pegasus by the serial number, found on the bar code label on the back of the Pegasus. Then, call us at +1 (408) 228-1500; or open the support case yourself under Web Support.

If PD 6 has command times out issues while rebuiling a new PD 5? what does that mean?

PD 2 MinorI am getting Command times out on physical drive.

I had replaced the drive twice now and when I need a photo it spinning pizza of death for awhile...minute or so and gives this error. I can not open a case as this drive is 4 years old. Any help. I think it is drive bay number two not the drive as I replaced it twice now, first drive dead, second drive would not mount after rebuild but works outside!

Getting the same problem on a vtrak E830f.  Repeated command timeouts on multiple disks under IO or when rebuilding an array.

It seems to have stopped when I set Guarenteed Latency to 1000 ms and disabled TRIM support.  Not sure if that applies to your problem, but might be worth a look.

Set guarenteed latency

  • Device ->Physical Disk -> Global Physical Drive Settings -: SATA Drive Settings

Disable trim

  • Device -> Component List -> Controller ID 1 -> Settings
