Hi,

can someone tell me if this would work please?

Google Wifi as Router - Apollo Cloud hooked directly to google wifi (or actually any random router)

I have movies and music on my mac book that I want to store on the apollo cloud

I want to use the apollo cloud as media server and have access from my samsung smart tv via LAN to watch movies and listen to music.

Or do I need something else?

Thanks

You can absolutely stream media from your Apollo. Look at SW like Plex Media Server.
(One of the best out there)
There are distributions for OS X, Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD.

https://www.plex.tv/downloads/
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204080173-Which-Smart-TV-models-are-supported-

1. Once you install Plex Media Server on the designated OS, you will need to point the server to your Media Source Folder.
2. You can use the Apollo Anywhere SMB share as your source for your media files.
3. You can create all type of media libraries within Plex.
4. Install the Plex client on your Samsung and bind it to the server. (Through Samsung's App Store)
5. Enjoy streaming media from your Apollo to your TV.

[Example with Plex running on Ubuntu]

[Example with Plex running on OS X]
1. Make sure the Apollo Utility is open. It will automatically mount your Apollo Anywhere SMB share (This is where you want to save Media files to).
2. If you don't want to use the Apollo Utility to mount the Apollo Anywhere SMB Share; you can connect to the SMB Apollo Anywhere just like any SMB share.
3. You will need to know the IP address of the Apollo. You can use the utility to retrieve the IP Address.
3A. To retrieve the IP Address, click the  gear and under Settings > Apollo, you will see the IP Address for the Apollo under Status.
4.  + K or Go > Connect to Server (Your Apollo admin credentials will be required to mount the share)

For any questions or support inquiries with Plex, you will need to contact them. Promise does not provide any technical support for Plex.

Ok that sounds great.

I am actually using already serviio - similar to plex.

But if I can hook it up to the router and then set the Apollo drive as source it will work like with Plex.

Thanks a lot!
