Yet another failed USB transfer.

Hello,

Again, again, again  and again… the USB transfer has failed again.

Three days labouring away to transfer something which took 10 hours to get onto a brand new USB disc and after 3 days toiling, the USB transfer has failed with only 40% transferred. But which 40%?

Surely, a USB transfer should be fast and reliable? It's neither.

Surely a USB transfer should rely only on the Apollo Clod and the USB drive? Having tried three external drives, it has to be the Clod doesn't it?

A backup system which is only 95% reliable, is useless by any normal standard. My Apollo Clod has failed… every time!

There's no proper error message. Just a note to say that the USB transfer has failed. No apology, no rhyme or reason.

What a pile!

Where do you want me to send it?

JC

Hello,

- What is the USB Version on your Hard drive ?

As I mentioned, it's a brand new drive therefore USB3.

So far as I have been told, the firmware and software are up to date.

- Are you trying to transfer the contents from your Apollo or to the Apollo ?

Do USB transfers fail in both directions?

Isn't the 'feature' on the Apollo called USB transfer to get data from an external USB disc onto the Apollo? Maybe we're talking about different devices?

I am trying to use the Apollo as a backup device. So far I have not managed to complete any data transfer from my computer to the Apollo. As you would see from other postings, I have tried almost all possible methods of getting data onto the drive and all have failed.

On the face of it, a USB transfer from disc to Apollo should be the simplest because there is no wireless in the way which might cause a problem. However, with three different discs, I have had failures.

I was told by Promise support that the USB transfer had been fixed and should now work.

It doesn't. Still.

We would recommend you to open a case @ https://support.promise.com with the details so that we can help you further.

Would it make any difference apart from removing the thread from a public forum.

Hi John,

As the support ticket 20180415151054S we replied earlier, please have your USB plug into Apollo device so we could check what's wrong on your USB transfer.   We are still waiting for your response.

Thanks.
