Will Pegasus2 R4 work with MacOS 27 i.e. Golden Gate? I currently have an iMac 27" 2020 and it's working fine. I will be upgrading later this year to a Mac Studio.

Hi Mike,

Prediction is hard, especially the future - Danish Proverb.

We really won't know until macOS 27 is released.

But unless they change their entire driver model, again, it seems unlikely that there will be any issues.

They do keep changing the location of the button to allow a 3rd party driver to run however, so it is possible that in macOS 27 it will be in a different location in the settings app than it was in macOS 26.

Thanks for the answer. That answer is way better than NO it will not work on a Mac Studio. Now I will have to wait and see. I'm guessing it will be tested in coming months. How will compatibility be posted come around September>

Hi Mike,

Also be advised that a firmware update to the latest firmware is required for a Pegasus2 to work properly with an Apple Silicon Mac.

If you are using an Intel Mac now, it's best to update the firmware from the Intel Mac before connectung it to the new Mac Studio,

I reaiized that I have a Pegasus3 R4. When I run the Promise Utility I can see Firmware Update under Admin menu. When I select it I  a window that has a Choose File button. I don't know what to do as I have no file. Shouldn't there be an update firmware menu item to download the current firmware and install it. What I'm I missing?

Hi Mike,

Before updating the firmware please check the version, it may be the latest version already.

Let's see, the latest Pegasus2 firmware is 5.04.0000.64. If the firmware is already at 5.04.0000.64 no need to update.

If it's not at 5.04.0000.64 you can use this file to update.

Thanks but I mentioned I was wrong when I said I had a Pegasus2. The Promise Utility show Model: Pegasus3 R4.

The Single Image Version is 6.04.0000.46

Single Image Build Date Mar 9, 2022

Hi Mike,

For a Pegasus3  you should not have any problems with 6.04.0000.46. It's one step behind the latest firmware but there are no known issues with it and I would suggest leaving it at 6.04.0000.46.

Oh! that's great. Thanks for all your help:)

I'm so relieved, I was so anxious about getting a Mac Studio and the RAID box not working. But now I can't wait. But still waiting for the M5 version.
