What are the definitions of the Items in Background Patrol (Utility)?  In particular what will Media Patrol do for me and which items are useful?  I am running RAID 0.

Thanks...

Hi Frank,

Media Patrol is a routine maintenance procedure that checks the magnetic media on each disk drive. Media Patrol checks all physical drives assigned to disk arrays including the spare drives. .

Media Patrol checks are enabled by default on all disk arrays. Media Patrol is concerned with the condition of the media itself, not the data recorded on the media.

Since you are running RAID 0 , Media patrol is the only activity that can be run with your setup.

Redundancy Check is for Logical drives with Parity (RAID 5 , RAID 6 etc).

If you want to know more about the various background activities , please refer the product manual link below.
