Hi,

I have a piece of old tech that I'm using (VTrak 8110, 8-disk RAID box). When I started using it (a few weeks ago) I noticed that the components on one side of the backplane seem to be flapping;

E.g.;

This is over the course of a few days - 2500+ events.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of semi-failure? Does the box need re-capping, or is it more severe?

Any ideas are most appreciated :)

Thanks!

Hello Ranjith. Sorry for the belated answer.

My VTrak 8110 is long out of warranty, being around a decade old. It's a hand-me-down from my employer and I'm using it at home.

I have however found the issue. Apparently, it blew a cap. Now the BIG question is - do you have access to the schematics to tell me which capacitor should be in place there? (I could also find out by taking down the box and open up the other PSU)

This is the PSU:

Thanks for your assistance :)

Best,

Hi,

Sorry,

this one is of the oldest model Vtrak unit .

We do not have any hardware or component list to suggest for these models as it was moved to legacy long time back.

Thanks for the effort though :) I dismantled the second PSU and found that it should (most likely, assuming I read it correctly) 4.7µF 50V. So tomorrow I'm picking up two and replacing both - just in case :)
