VTRAK E610f for MAC: Firmware Update for use with AMD-based ESX host possible

Dear all,

i am planning to use a Promise VTRAK E610f with Firmware for MAC installed as a non shared Storage unit, directly connected via FC to AMD based ESX Host (HP DL 385 G6).

Question 1: do i need another Firmwareversion instead of  10.06.2270.00 for MAC? 

Question 2: is it possible to install Non-Mac related Firmware on these Controller Models anyway?

Question 3: Installed are CU based SFP for FC. I plan to use LFL. Are there special PROMISE reccomended LWL SFP Models available?

Answer : VTRAK E610f is a legacy product and no longer under active development. Hence there are no more further updates after 10.06.2270.00 and no other firmware version needed.

Question 2: is it possible to install Non-Mac related Firmware on these Controller Models anyway?

 

No ,You cannot install Non-Mac related Firmware on those controllers as they are Controller Firmware for Apple. VTrak E610f has two variation controller firmware based on the units (VTrak E610F channel version and VTrak E610f for Apple ) .  Both Channel and Mac Firmware version for both controllers are different and we do not recommend mixing different controllers firmware on specific VTrak E610F channel version and VTrak E610f for Apple

Question 3: Installed are CU based SFP for FC. I plan to use LFL. Are there special PROMISE reccomended LWL SFP Models available?

Kindly see below link of the VTrak E610F compatibility list. Attached list are tested and certified by PROMISE. If you do not see the SFPs that you wanted, PROMISE has not tested as well as certified it and we cannot guarantee whether  it will work or not.

Question 2: is it possible to install Non-Mac related Firmware on these Controller Models anyway? 10.06.2270.00 for Customized unit and VPD can’t change to Channel version FW

10.06.2270.00 for Apple with Promise business support Mac OS only.

Channel and apple Ex10 unit EOL no any new SW support .
