Swapping out R6 drives

Hello,

How do I swap 2TB Pegasus R6 drives.

On Pegasus R6 named Raid-A I have a drive with PFA errors and data I'd like to move.

I plan to decomission Raid-A once the data is moved. Right now I get all kinds of read/write errors when trying to move the data to another Pegasus2 R8.

I have an empty Pegasus R6, Raid-B, configured the same as Raid-A (Raid 5). I'd like to swap out a drive from Raid-B to Raid-A.

Do I need to do anything to the drive from Raid-B before swapping it out?

Will it be "hot swappable"?

This is on a mac system

Thanks

Hi Art,

You cannot move a drive which has data in it. You have to format it before using it.

Regaring the RAID A which is in PFA, Based on RAID LEVEL, you can remove the bad drive and still access the data .

We recommend you to open a case at https://support.promise.com/ for further assistance.

Thanks !
