I cant log on i try hard reset but nothihg happens please tell how to restore the device to factory settings

Hi Alexander,

 

Please follow the below process and reset the unit without the drives and see if it helps

 

-Turn off the NAS unit. 

-Mark & remove all the hard drives according to their slot. -Turn on the NAS without drives and let the unit Boot completely. 

-Then press & hold the reset button (pin hole located to the left of chassis screw \96 bottom left - will need paperclip or push pin) and hold it down for a minute, until the system status LED flashes 3 times and shuts down indicating a successful reset.

-Wait for a minute & unplug the power of the NAS unit. 

-Insert the Drives back in to their respective slots. 

-Connect the power & turn the unit back on.

-The IP address of the NAS unit would have been reset, so use smartNAVI application to check the DHCP assigned IP of the NAS. 

-Login to the web interface(PASM). 

-Click the Administration topic and choose the RAID & File System icon to expand the Tree.

-In the Tree, click the RAID Management icon.

-Click the Recover tab.

-On the Recover tab, click the option button beside the invalid RAID Volume & then click the OK button.

-The SmartStor will reboot itself to update its configuration and recognize the RAID Volume.

 

After recovering, click on file management -> File system check. File system check will run faster up-to 95% and then would 

take several hours to complete rest of 5% after which you would be able to access your data.

Hi Alexander,

 

I do not see any changes in the LED when you tried to reset the unit. Please try with a different Pin/ Paperclip to check.

I tried without rear panel directly pressed  reset buton and nothing.

Hi Alexander,

When you press the reset button , did the unit beep ? If you are not hearing any sound, then it is not reset properly.

No i dont hear any sound.How can upgrade firmware the device enter in safe mode.

Hi Alexander,

Could you please try to reset the unit once again and see if you are able to reset the unit. If you are not able to reset the unit with the reset button from the back of the unit, then the unit might have gone bad. These units had its EOL. We are sorry to inform you that we do not have any repair option.

When i hold power and reset buton i hear 3 beeps and the device enter in safe mode but when i press and hold only reset buton nothing happen.

Please try to login to the device and check if you are able to login with the default credentials.

Username: admin

Password: password

If you have difficulties configuring the device, then please go to https://support.promise.com, register the product and create support ticket for further investigation.
