I have a Promise Pegasus R4 with four 3TB Toshiba disks setup as RAID5. I've been seeing 'minor' alerts indicating bad sector on disk #3. So far the number of alerts are 24 all in a row and at same time.
Since these are marked as "minor" is there a need for replacing the disk ? Are these "minor" bad sectors being spared ? It seems not as the last time I saw them was a few months ago and yesterday they showed up again.
I've always thought a few bad sectors would be spared until a bad sector threshold count was reached/exceeded.
BTW... When performing a Synchronization process are ALL disk sectors on ALL disks read/checked, and if a sector is found 'bad' will an alert be logged ? Thanks.
