I have a VESS R2600i 2 controller unit freshly loaded with 16 6TB seagate drives ST6000NM0115, All drives are showing up as "not usable". This drive is on the compatibility list. I've updated the controller firmware to 1.05.000.84. Bootloader version is 1.00.0000.18. NASAPP version is 1.02.0000.84

What do i need to do to get these drives to be "usable

Thank you

Unit has 2 of the same controllers. When i remove contoller 2 i can see all the drives on Controller 1 and they are usable. when I use only the second controller NO drives at all are visible. Bad Controller or missing cable?? If i swap spots of the controller both controllers will see the drives so that rules out a bad controller. missing cable??

Hi Brian,

If you are using SATA drives on a dual controller units, you need to install an SATA - SAS adaptor for the drives to work.

SATA Drives are Single ported and it would work fine on Single Controller units. The adaptor would make the SATA drives work when using DUAL controllers.

Here is the link for the SATA - SAS Adaptor.
