Hello,

I have a 32TB R4i in a 2019 Mac Pro. I am looking to acqurie a replacement 8TB drive in case of failure. Can the drives be replaced within the modules or do the modules have to be replaced? What are the recommended drives to be used for replacement?

Thanks.

Hello Craig,

You can purchase any drive model/brand of the same size by referencing the Hard Drive Compatibility list tested with the Pegasus R4i. Most other drives should work as well. You can refer to the compatibility list here  .Once you've obtained the replacement drive, follow the instructions from here to rebuild the disk array. Refer to the Product Manual (Page 135) to replace the drive module.

Babatunde, thank you for the quick reply.

Are there instructions for opening the module to replace the drive?

Best,

Craig

Refer to the Video Tutorial on how to swap the drive inside the Pegasus R4i Module

Thanks. But that video shows how to replace the module itself, not how to remove the barebones drive itself from the module.

The drive module is secured with screws that hold the drive in place. Therefore, you will need to unscrew the drive module to remove the barebone drive.
