I'd be very grateful if someone can help me with this as I am not tech savvy.
My Pegasus 2 R6 ( 6 original 3TB drives in RAID5 ) has been running flawlessly for years, but one disc was recently reported as dead. The other 5 appear to be healthy.  I replaced it with a new Toshiba N300 8TB and it has a green checkmark and PassThru configuration on the physical drive list.

The Disk Array and Logical Drive now have a yellow alert in the Dashboard. I thought that the rebuild process should start automatically, but it has not, and in the Background Activities, the only options which are available are Media Patrol and Migration. All of the others, including rebuild, are greyed out.

It is  connected via Thunderbolt 2, to a MacPro ( late 2013) running Monterey 12.6.3

The Host driver is v 6.2.13, and the R6 firmwre is 5.04.0000.64

Thank you!

Hi CM,

I replaced it with a new Toshiba N300 8TB and it has a green checkmark and PassThru configuration on the physical drive list.

This is your problem You'll need to clear the passthru config.

This can be done from the Promise Utility or the CLI with this command.

phydrv -a mod -p <failed drive number> -s "config=unconfig"

You did not mention which drive so you will have to change the <failed drive number> to your new drive's ID. It will be a number from 1 to six and don't copy the brackets.

Then you should manually start a rebuild from  Background Tasks in the Promise Utility. Once the drive is unconfigured you should see a rebuild option.
