R8 drive suddenly very slow. Error message says some data can't be read or written.

My Pegasus 2 R8 has been working for 10 years without any issues. But today, as I was copying data to a backup drive, the file transfers suddenly started creeping along or crapping out with error messages saying 'some data can't be read or written.' I assume one of the drives has failed, so I have submitted a tech support case to Promise along with the service report -see attached- but as my RAID is no longer covered by the warranty, I am wondering what my options are.

Obviously, I'd like to get the drive working again, but more importantly, I need to copy all the data on the drive.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nicholas,

It looks like PD7 has gone bad.

Since the Pegasus is out of warranty, you'll have to provide the replacement drive yourself. You can find replacement drives on Amazon, Newegg or your local computer store. You can also find replecement drives at the Promise Shop.

Make sure your replacement drive is 3TB with a 7200 rpm spindle speed. You can also use drives larger than 3TB.
