This afternoon my Nephew ejected one of the drives in my Pegasus R4 system.  When I plugged it back in, it came up with a red light instead of blue.  The array has been running for a year or more and all of the bays were very dusty.

So...I powered down the array and removed each of the drives in turn, cleaning the dust off each one and placing it aside...ensuring that the order of the drives is correct.  I then plugged each drive back into it's slot.  When I powered up the array, the first 3 drives turned red (and show as "Dead" in the Promise utility.  Is there any way to recover the data on the array???

To get your array back online, follow these instructions:

Open the Terminal and type promiseutil and hit Return to log into the CLI

Once you're in the CLI:

Force the drives back online with the following commands:

phydrv -a online -p1
phydrv -a online -p2
phydrv -a online -p3

You can also type phydrv -h to see all the examples from the CLI

After forcing the PDs (Physical Disks) back online, the LEDs will turn back to blue and your volume should be accessible after forcing the (3) PDs back online.

In the future, the fastest method to get support is by opening a case via https://support.promise.com and one of our technical support representatives will be able to address any issues or concerns.

Thank you, thank you thank you!!  I was sure I had lost all the data in the array.  The instructions you gave worked perfectly and my Promise array is now back online!

Gratefully,

Frederick Schaeffer
