Hi everyone, my Promise Pegasus3 R6 suddenly stop working right now. I can see it in the Promise Utilty Pro, and it seems to be all normal. And I also can see it in the Disk Utilty of macOS, but it's not mounted and cannot be mounted.

I tried some way I found on this forum which is manual mount it in terminal, I used this command:

sudo kextload /Library/Extensions/PromiseSTEX.kext/

And first I got

Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/PromiseSTEX.kext

Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=2 "No such file or directory"

So I tried to reinstall driver and DEXT driver and do the system approval and restart my system then tried it again, and now I get:

Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/PromiseSTEX.kext

Error Domain=KMErrorDomain Code=71 "Incompatible architecture: Binary is for x86_64, but needed arch arm64e" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Incompatible architecture: Binary is for x86_64, but needed arch arm64e}

My system is macOS Sonoma 14.5 (no beta), and my computer is Mac Studio M1 Ultra. And my driver version is:

<string>Version: 6.2.17, Copyright (c) 2010-2021 Promise Technology, Inc.</string>

Do anyone has a clue on how to fix it?

Thank you very much!

Hi Vincent,

Every single thing above shows you trying to install the KEXT driver. This is not recomended, they will stop working soon.

Just install the DEXT driver.

Thank you for help!

The DEXT driver is exactly what I installed. But the R6 stopped working suddenly, and it cannot be mounted in any GUI utilty. So I found the command in this forum which is to manually mount R6 in terminal.

Do you know the command which DEXT driver should be using?

Hi Vincent,

Did you 'accept' the DEXT driver in Privacy & Security?

But the R6 stopped working suddenly

Perhaps the Basic Troublesshooting Guide will help.

Check that the Pegasus shows up in the System Report/Thunderbolt section first.
