Recently purchased Pegasus32 R4 from Apple store and the power supply fan never turns off even after Mac shuts down. I've owned Pegasus2 and 3 and this has never been a problem. Latest software/firmware updated as well. Is this normal? The fan will surely burn out if left on 24/7. thank you.

hi
I just returned this drive. What a shame that Promise provides zero support for this known bug. I have ordered the G-techology 4 drive RAID instead.
Hi W ko,
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Pegasus32 has been designed like that only where it's Fan always spin until it's
connected with Mac. So it will work as per Mac instructions.
Please reach us through support.promise.com or chat for quick response.

Not sure how you can claim the noise from this HD system is normal. Compared with other HDs it's horribly noisy and clunky to use.
Whoever thought a power switch you have to hold for FIVE seconds was a good idea!
The thing starts up it's noise when I power on my Mac in the morning - and I have to eject it, then hold that button until it changes color! I have better things to do with my time...
All my other hard drives have power switches which once turned off, STAY OFF until I switch them back on. THAT is normal!
The performance of the unit is great, but it's so noisy and clunky to use, I deeply regret wasting my money on it.
Today it has been consigned to the role of backup drive. That is NOT what I bought it for.
Hello Andy,
Kindly log a web support ticket by logging into support.promise.com and attach the subsystem report of the unit so we can check and let you know.
Steps to save the subsystem report :
1) Open Promise Utility.
2) Click subsystem information icon on the top of the window.
3) Click the lock symbol on the left bottom corner of the screen to unlock the utility.
4) Click on save service report button to save the subsystem report
