I have a vtrak E830F raid that Had one physical drive go stale config after reporting bad sectors.  That drive was replaced, and after rebuild it shows all drives and arrays as ok, but the capacity shows as 0 bytes:

  • 8
  •
  • WDC WD2003FYYS-02W0B0
  • SAS HDD
  • Encl 1 Slot 8
  • Array2 SeqNo1
  • 0 Byte

The logical drive shows as the complete capacity required:

  • LD 2
  • Data 4
  • 13.99 TB
  • RAID5
  • 64 KB
  • ReadAhead/WriteBack
  • DA 2

Has anyone experienced this before, and is there a way to get this raid to report actual capacity of the drive and array?  I am hesitant to shut down the raid.

Thanks in advance.

Generally, when a drive is configured as a spare drive the used capacity will be shown as 0 byte. I could see that this drive is a part of the array. Could you please go to https://support.promise.com to register the unit and create a support ticket with the complete subystem report for further investigation. Follow the steps below to save the complete subsystem report.

Kindly login to the web interface of the unit and follow the below steps to save the complete subsystem report.

1. Click Save Service Report in the Header.

Information for the report is gathered and compiled. This action takes up to a few minutes, depending on the size of your RAID system.

2. Click the Save File option, then click the Save button. The report saves to your Host PC as a compressed HTML file.

Thanks for the response Pradeep!  I should have mentioned its not a spare and its the "physical" capacity is showing as 0 bytes.  This raid is registered and I do have a case open currently with Promise.  Currently trying to get a single incident contract, but was hoping someone on the forum may have encountered a similar issue.  If you happen to work for Promise and want to look at the case and a few of the service reports already uploaded, and I can get you the number.

Thanks again!
