Hi Donald,
If you use Finder to copy files to your Pegasus volume they will be there until you delete them from the Pegasus volume; the files will not be deleted if you delete the originals on you Mac.
This is only a concern if you are using some kind of app that copies pictures to your Pegasus volume using a "sync" function that mirrors anything you do to the files on your Mac to the files on the Pegasus volume. In this case you will have to explore the configuration of the app to see if there is a way to prevent this behavior.
