Pegasus3 R8 Disk Failure and Recovery

Hi all.  After almost 4 solid years, I had a disk failure overnight (bad sectors). I have it configured under RAID-5 and a spare installed, so the Pegasus started rebuilding automatically as soon as it pulled the bad disk offline (now listed as staleconfig). Drive is still under warranty, So Seagate is sending a replacement IronWolf Pro 12TB today.

My question is what steps should I take when the new disk arrives? Best practices, if you will. Do I wait for the rebuild to complete, then pull the bad disk and set the new disk up as the new spare? 

Any insight is appreciated.

Hello Craig,

Kindly register the unit at support.promise.com and then create a web support ticket, attach the subsystem report to the case for further assistance.

Steps to save the subsystem report :

1) Open Promise Utility.

2) Click subsystem information icon on the top of the window.

3) Click the lock symbol on the left bottom corner of the screen to unlock the utility.

4) Click on save service report button to save the subsystem report and attach it to this case.
