We have a Pegasus3 R8 filled with 6TB disks. And I want to use it as a volume for our OSX fileserver. Users will only access the disk through the network, so no direct video editing etc.
As I would need at least 26TB to host all our data, RAID 6 looks like the way to go. The reason I am asking this, is that the system is shipped as a RAID5. And from what I know, RAID5 is not a very smart choise with larger disks. Am I correct in this assumption, or have things changed over the past few years?
