hi, recently bought a Pegasus3 R4 to use with my MacBook Pro. Changed the drives to WD black 6tb. Worked great in the beginning. But now as I've filled up about 8tb it's started to crash every time I use it. Not sure what he issue can be. But my guess has been either the drives or the macOS Sierra 10.12.4. Any clue what it can be?

i can't copy material to the drive without crashing the whole mac.

worked perfect for the first days, then now it's just useless.

Thanks

J

Hi J,

It is a compatiblitily issue with drives. Pegasus 3 units are tested only with Toshiba MD04ACA600 6TB drive and it is highly recommended to use only the hardware listed in the promise compatibility for optimal performance.

Please use the below link to download the compatibility list:

Thanks..

Hi again,

changed the drives to the toshibas. Still have the exact same issue. It crashed when I transfer the files. It was absolutely fine for the first 2tb of data. It's up to date with the firmware. OS SIERRA is updated too.

I have two guesses. 1. it's a os sierra thing. 2. it's a hardware compatibilty thing. So far it's only crashed when I try to transfer from a USB dock. The harddrives that are portable havent had an issue so far. I'm using a Deltaco dock that then transfer from a Seagate 8tb archive drive. No clue why that would be an issue but it's my best guess. Testing it out to transfer a large chunk from a portable now to see if it doesnt have the issue.

Any clues?

Hi Jonny,

Have you installed the latest driver on the Mac machine? Please generate the subsystem report of the unit and Mac system profiler then share it with us through support case.

Please open a case at http://support.promise.com or call us at (408) 228-1500 to troubleshoot the issue.

Steps to save the subsystem report:

- Open Promise Utility
- Click subsystem information icon on the top of the window
- Click the lock symbol on the left bottom corner of the screen to unlock the utility
- Click on save service report button to save the subsystem report

Please find the instructions below to save the Mac system report,

- Mac system profiler (Click Apple Icon > About this Mac > More info > System Report > Choose 'File' & 'Save')

Thank you.

Ok so those are the reports. The werid thing is that I just managed to copy from two other drives without any problem whatsoever. So my best guess is that it's either the dock or the other drive that can be screwing things up...

thanks
