This is a new combo for me, but problem probably came after latest osx update. On booting, LD1 and LD2 shows up on my desktop, but not LD0!

rebooting will normally bring it back.

using promise utility I can selcet "show in finder" and all my data is there. BUT if I want to open a file I cant because it is marked as read-only!!! Using backup procedure, which is from LD0 to LD1 seems to be working fine althoug no disk is show on desktop/finder.

The Pegasus is connected to iMac 27" 5K using adapter and corning cable, all is fine.

osx and software resides on local ssd inside iMac

this problem may also arize when the imac wakes up after longer sleep, it is rather impractical... also because I dont know if its a osx issue or a pegasus issue, and this tends to land the problem "at the other"

otherwise Pegasus is fine

kind regrads

Hi Palle,

It sounds like file system got corrupted after the OS X updated and the Pegasus is a raw storage device and doesn't have any file-system, it is handled by the Mac OS. Please make sure you have a complete back up of your data and then check if you are able to see the LD 0 in the mac disk utiltiy, if it is garyed out then you can try to verify disk and check if it mounts. If no, then you may need to use any third party tool to repair file systems or delete and re create the array and restore the data.

For any further queries, please create a web support ticket in support.promise.com by registering the product with the unit serial number(Located at the back of the chassis) or you can also contact Promise Tech support.

Ok

thanks for that input, it clarifies (somewhat) my understanding of the combination. will check next time the disk does not mount in diskutility.

as it is now, after a restart of osx alls is fine, no corruption

interesting about the backup, because one other LD is for backup !!! but anyway.

The problem occours randomly, still. Sometime a cold reboot will bring the disk back, sometimes a restart.

using diskutility the 'missing' is indeed found. however under archivesystem it is shown without the 'journaled' extension. once the disk is vivble again it is shown as journaled as it should.

using the promise utility i can see all is fine and get is to show me specific files in finder (which IS mac-ovned) but I cannot access them they pop up as readonly... but it is ok to backup this partly nonexisting data.

I have contacted Apple, but they wash their hands since I am using a thirdparty device. This I find a disappointing, not to say truly shitty reply not atall in the spirit of Apple, so they refer me to Promise!!!

if you contact apple? just in case the casenumber by Apple is: 100233137628

When I have time I will open a supportcase by Promise. I find that this problematic behaviour is neither in your interest or in Apple's and look forward to a fix

Further to previous information, I have moved the pegasus2 to my desktop an connected it to my iMac with the normal TB2 cable + the adapter. forst it worked fine showing all logical disks, then after  some reboots it was LD1 not showing up??? so it is not the use of the long Corning TB-cable that does cause the behaviour.

I have one question. when the pegasus starts up, sensing the iMac is 'on', it will emmit 2 short beeps, and the a long moment later atnother set of two beeps. I have taken that the first two beeps indicated it was ready and then I have enetred my passcode into OSX, to gain acess to system!!! I have this thaought: shoould I wait until AFTER the second set of beeps, to make sure that all Logical disks are beeing recognized by OSX??? I cant find any information on this in the manual.

pls advise, thank you

Palle
