Pegasus2-R6 disappear after clean install of Ventura

My Pegasus2-R6 disappeared after I performed a clean reinstall of Ventura. It was working before. When I installed the Promise Pegasus Driver R_MacDrv_V6_2_17-3, everything was normal and it was completed with statement “The installation was successful” except that I couldn’t see the drive. Then I installed the R_PROMISE_Utility_406000001. The program could run but no dialog screen was given except Menu bar, just liked no Pegasus2 was connected.  In the System Information > Hardware > Thunderbolt/USB4, I can see the Pegasus2-R is “Device connected”. I tried to use "kextstat | grap romise" to look for the driver but I could see nothing.

I used the same machine and started the MS Windows via bootcamp. Insides the Windows, I can see the partition of Pegasus2 normally. I suspected that I could format the volume to NTFS and get it back in Windows (although I hadn’t do it).

Anyone has experience or suggestion?

Hi Terence,

Any relation to the Terrance Wong who just made an adjacent post?

In the System Information > Hardware > Thunderbolt/USB4, I can see the Pegasus2-R is “Device connected”.

I have seen cases where the TB cable was bad, but  the Pegasus did show in the Thunderbolt section of the System Report. But if the volume mounts in a bootcamp partition the cable seems to be working.

I tried to use "kextstat | grap romise" to look for the driver but I could see nothing.

I hope those are typos, it should be...

kextstat | grep promise

That being said, Intel Ventura comes with a STEX driver builtin and there is no need to install an additional driver. Only M1 Ventura needs to have a Pegasus driver installed.

Please check the Extensions tab in the System Report and scroll down to the P section, you should see which Promise drivers are installed and/or loaded.

 Hi RP,

Thanks for your hints. I just replaced the TB cable and it works. It is magic. However, I just cannot understand why the Windows in bootcamp can see partition but Ventura cannot.

Anyway, the problem solved.
