Pegasus R6 No Longer Mounting (Mac Studio M2 Sonoma)

I was pleasantly surprised when, a couple months ago, my Pegasis R6 suddenly mounted and showed up in my finder. However, I just upgraded to Sonoma 14.6.1 and the drive is no longer available. When I open the system and look at my Thunderbolt/USB4 ports, it shows up in Bus5 as Pegasus R-Series.

How can I get my drive to show again? Thanks!

Same thing here....just updated to 14.6.1 and my Pegasus R6 no longer mounts. I've uploaded the DEXT driver and it mounted for about an hour, then disappeared again. Really need to get the files off this raid. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi,

Most likely after the update the driver is not loading. To check the state of the driver please open a terminal then run the following commands and post the output here.

kextstat | grep promise
systemextensionsctl list | grep promise

Thank you for the assistance.....I hope I did the above correctly

Him

It looks like Dave has an Intel Mac, and the driver is loaded.

Bill has both the Pegasus and PegasusPro DEXT drivers loaded.

So this does not appear to be a driver issue.

The next thing to check would be the cable. Please try another Thunderbolt 2 cable. It is suprosing that with a bad cable the Pegasus sometimes shows up in the Thunderbolt section of the System report.

Replaced the cable ... a colossal waste of $40 ... of course, it didn't solve the problem. The drive is still not showing up in either Finder or the Disk Utility. I'm not surprised, since the drive was working perfectly before the upgrade and it seemed a bit coincidental that a cable would "fail" at the same moment an operating system upgrade occurred.

I await the next step

UPDATE ... I carted the drive to a friend with an older Intel Mac and the drive booted up just fine on that machine ... with the old cable. So ... it's NOT the drive and it's NOT the cables. It's a driver problem. Yes, apparently the driver is loaded (maybe), but the driver isn't working.

Updates?

Hi Bill,

Pegasus1 units with old firmware sometimes don't always properly connect to M-series Macs via thunderbolt.

Since your Pegasus shows up on your friend's computer, please check the firmware and update it to the latest if necessary. Firmware updates are done with the Promise Utility.

This is the latest firmware, v5.04.0000.61

We have 2 new Mac Studios with Sonoma 14.6.1
I am trying to install an M4 on one and an R6 on the other, both are fresh out of the box.

The current drivers downloaded from this site do not seem to load properly (we are never prompted to activate the extensions.)
When we run the systemextensionsctl list | grep promise command we get no results.
Perhaps something in Sonoma 14.6.1 is blocking the drivers?
We have a ticket open with Promise support...
