I have four 2TB HDs setup as a RAID 5 for video editing. I have two more 2TB HDs that i want to install. If i setup the last two bays as a RAID 0, will i still get good performance out of it since both RAIDs are in the same housing / single Thunderbolt cable?

Hi Al Horton,

1.RAID 5 configuration includes performance & Redundancy

2. RAID0 configuration includes performance but no redundancy. If one drive fails you will lose the data.

Please refer the below link for more information regarding RAID technology

what i'm asking is, if i set up two different RAIDs on the same Pegasus R6, RAID 5 (four drives) & RAID 0 (two drives) will i get the same perforamce out of my RAID 0 as i would if i had a different external HD setup as a RAID 0?

Hi Al,

Yes, you can have 2 different RAID in a single Pegasus R6.

In this case, you have to create 2 Arrays (4 Drives in one array for RAID 5 and 2 Drives in another array for RAID 0).

Performance will differ as Array with RAID 0 will be faster than the RAID 5 Array.

Thanks !
