Pegasus R6 Bad Sector Messages

We keep seeing these recurring messages on a Pegasus R6 array every few days or weeks.

PD6     Minor      May 29, 2021 00:08:08      Bad Sector is found on physical disk.

The array appears fine. All boxes are checked green. The RAID acts as if nothing is wrong. But we keep seeing these messages. The problem is I don't see a way to determine which drive is having the issue. It seems the Logical Volume is having an issue.

Is there a way to figure out which drive is causing the problem? Do I have to replace all 6 drives. It is a RAID 5 configuration with 6 - 3 TB drives. How can I figure out which physical drive is having the sector issues?

Hello Gerald,

Kindly create a support case from support.promise.com and attach the subsystem report of the unit so we can check the report and help you with the details.

Steps to save the subsystem report :

1) Open Promise Utility.

2) Click subsystem information icon on the top of the window.

3) Click the lock symbol on the left bottom corner of the screen to unlock the utility.

4) Click on save service report button to save the subsystem report and attach it to this case.

Note : PD6 refers to the drive on slot 6.
