Pegasus R6 24TB not searchable with Mac Lion Server?

I replaced a Pegasus R6 - 12TB unit with a R6 - 24TB to get more storage. As the drive was filling up with more and more data it stopped being searchable from my Mac running Lion server. First just some folders, now no data on the entire drive  is searchable.

I have an offsite backup system that is identical, but has 2 R6s with 12TB each - and they're perfectly searchable.

The Mac in my office with the 24TB drive is indexing smaller drives just fine and performs searches on the 12TB drives fine, so all I can think of is that it cannot handle the amount of data of the larger drive.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Would a server upgrade solve my problem, or do I need to downgrade the size of the drives and instead run multiple units (as I do on my backup system)? Any insight is greatly appreciated!

There are plenty of Pegasus2 48TB volumes out there without this problem. The Pegasus provides block storage to the operating system OS X, and OS X is responsible for location of metadata (folders) and data (files).

If Finder is not able to search it, but Promise Utility shows no errors, the problem is likely found in the file system. Apps such as Disk Utility First Aid may be helpful in these situations.

Thanks Joe - you were right! I ran disk utility and it showed me a ton of errors in the file directory. Unfortunately they could not be repaired through disk utility, but it stated I should back up all data and then reformat the disk. Should this be done through the Promise Utility and will all of my data be erased?

This can actually be done in Disk Utility. Simply erase the partition. This will erase your data.

Then you will need to bring the files over from your backups.

Moving your files off of the Pegasus to another location, if needed, should be done with a backup program (such as Time Machine) or another utility which copies files (such as Finder). Restoring from backup will need to be done through the same application as you used to back it up in the first place.
