Hi,

I have a Promise Pegasus R6 / gen1 with 2Tb drives. I would like to upgrade to bigger drives.
What is the maximum drive size for this 1st gen Pegasus R6 - and best type of drive?

Anyone?

If I understood correctly from compatibility list 3Tb is max. Is ir really so???

Thanks for your help

Hi Pentti,

You can download the compatibility list from the below link. The list will have the tested 4 TB drives in it.

https://www.promise.com/DownloadFile.aspx?DownloadFileUID=4127

We have also seen customers using 6TB drives in it and it has worked .

Thanks !

Works well with 4 TB drives.  I had mine in RAID 5 so I did a rolling upgrade.  Took some time (about a week), but worked fine.

1. Pull out drive, replace with new 4 TB drive, rebuild

2. keep going with a full rebuild until all 6 drives were done.

Would that give you more space on the old volume or just room to create another volume?

I am using @6 WD 6TB red drives with MacPro 2013 and MacOS 10.14.6. No issues. Also I had dead hard drives. I rebuilted RAID with new hard drive of the same model twice in the past.
