Thank you in advance for any time and attention anyone gives to this!

My P2R6 does not mount on my new(er) Mac Studio M1 Max, Ventura. I've downloaded the perscribed driver and firmware, have the correct cabling. When everything is plugged in and connected to power, it won't turn on. Or, it turns on by itself, randomly, but immediately shuts off. I did notive the top drive in the R6 had a red light on. Any suggestions on how I can regain access. Thank you, again, for any and all assistance.

Hi Arch,

My P2R6 does not mount on my new(er) Mac Studio M1 Max, Ventura. I've downloaded the perscribed driver and firmware, have the correct cabling.

Have you checked the status of the driver to be sure it's loading? Try this command in a terminal.

systemextensionsctl list | grep pegasus

Or, it turns on by itself, randomly, but immediately shuts off.

These symptoms could be caused by an intermittant Thunderbolt cable or power supply issues.

Since it appears you just got a new M1 Mac (congrats on that) do you still have your old Mac? If so could you plug the Pegasus into your old Mac and see if it works there?

Hi there, and thank you for the response!

I applied the terminal command and this was the result: Last login: Mon Aug 14 16:19:21 on ttys000

archfuston@archsmaudioold2 ~ % systemextensionsctl list | grep pegasus

* * 268CCUR4WN com.promise.driverkit.pegasus (21.1.0/1) com.promise.driverkit.pegasus [activated enabled]

archfuston@archsmaudioold2 ~ %

I tried mounting this with my old Mackbook Pro and still nothing.

Hi Arch,

archfuston@archsmaudioold2 ~ % systemextensionsctl list | grep pegasus

* * 268CCUR4WN com.promise.driverkit.pegasus (21.1.0/1) com.promise.driverkit.pegasus [activated enabled]

archfuston@archsmaudioold2 ~ %

This says that the driver is loaded and enabled.

I tried mounting this with my old Mackbook Pro and still nothing.

And this points to a Pegasus failure. The power supply seems the likely culprit.

Yikes. Is that repairable??

Hi Arch,

Debugging in the forum is difficult.

If it was a Thunderbolt 3 device, the Thunderbolt 3 cable turns it on, so a bad/intermittant cable would be a possibility. But the Pegasus 1 and Pegasus 2 power on when you plug in the power cable. They don't go to sleep mode until told to do so by the Thunderbolt bus.

If it's not powering on when you plug the Pegasus2 power cable, it would seem necessary that the Pegasus2 is the issue.

I'll search around for repair in the San Diego area. Thank you, RP!
