I am running macOS High Sierra 10.1 3.2, with latest update on a 12 core Xeon Mac pro from 2013, – the trashcan
I have high Kernel activity of 20-30%, high temperature with the fans running.
If I disconnect the RAID array this all stops and activity is less than 5% doing normal tasks with Word, PowerPoint et cetera. This is my usual level of activity,
I have updated to the latest firmware and the latest version of the Promise software (4.0)
Disk utility and the promise utility both report the array has no problems.
I wrote about 350 GB of video data to the array which seemed to start this. This is unusual for me and there is still 5 TB of free space.
I have excluded the array from spotlight indexing, – it has no effect.
