No Remote Time Machine Access

One of the pros for buying the Apollo Cloud was the ability to do Time Machine backups over the internet.  It was working fine for Time Machine backups at home, but when I try remotely Time Machine keeps telling me it cannot find the drive.

The drive IS mounted, visible in Finder, and I can see the Time Machine backup drive.  It mounts.  But Time Machine just won't find the disk.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?  Is this a glitch?  Any advice would be most welcome.

I'm posting a screen shot showing the error and the Time Machine drive, clearly mounted.

Hi Mark,

Please clarify the follwing queries.

1. What is the App & firmware version running on the unit?

2. Go to the Apollo app and click settings -> Click ->Time machine Info and let me know the status.

Thanks.

App: iOS 2.12 / MacOS: Not sure, but I downloaded it last week from the site, so should be newest.

Firmware: 2.1.42

Time Machine is turned on in the MacOS app, and the volume is mounted in Finder.

I was reading online over the weekend that Time Machine works via something called SMB, and that SMB cannot travel over a router (only works on the local network).  Maybe that’s why it won’t work over the internet?  But it still sounds like you all have had success making this work remotely though, so definitely curious to know how and/or what I’m doing wrong.

Thanks!
