My Pegasus2 units do not work with my new MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

How do I access the data on my two Pegasus2 units (an R4 and an R8) using my new MacBook Air (M1, 2020)?

I can access this data without issue on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013).

I understand that I can “fix” my M1 MacBook Air issue by disabling its security features to allow the installation of “Pegasus2 Series Driver for Mac” (version SR3.4.10 released on 2020/12/31), but I don’t want to do this because the whole reason I bought the M1 MacBook Air was to be more security conscious.

My questions:

1. Does PROMISE plan to release a new “Pegasus2 Series Driver for Mac” that doesn’t require disabling the M1 MacBook Air’s security features?

2. If not, then I will need to replace my two Pegasus2 units. One option is to purchase a Pegasus32 unit which, according to the Apple store, is compatible with both my MacBook Air (M1, 2020) and MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013).

Will a Pegasus32 unit work “out of the box” with my M1 MacBook Air?

3. If yes, then can I simply move the drives from my Pegasus2 units to the Pegasus32 units?

This is a macOS security feature. It is not a feature of the driver. You will have to contact Apple about this as they are the only ones who can change macOS security.

EDIT: If I'm reading you right you assume that you have to disable all macOS security. If this is what you are thinking it's not correct at all. There is no way to disable all macOS security, it's part of every software component. The only security feature that needs to be disabled is the feature that disallows the installation of 3rd party drivers. macOS is still secure.

2. If not, then I will need to replace my two Pegasus2 units. One option is to purchase a Pegasus32 unit which, according to the Apple store, is compatible with both my MacBook Air (M1, 2020) and MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013).

The M1 macOS does not include a Pegasus driver, you would stiff have to install the M1 Pegasus driver for the Pegasus32 and that will require modifying security to allow 3rd party drivers.

Will a Pegasus32 unit work “out of the box” with my M1 MacBook Air?

No, see above. The Intel Big Sur does come with a Pegasus driver and they can be used out of the box with Intel Big Sur.

3. If yes, then can I simply move the drives from my Pegasus2 units to the Pegasus32 units?

It's no, but the drives can be moved from a Pegasus2 to a Pegasus32, the array and LUN will be recognized.
