Trying to set up a schedule to run MP out of core hours. It seems to be OK when I run it manually, but when I try to set up a schedule, I get the green error message 'MP schedule will not run at the time if there are no configuration'. I can't find any relevant documentation, so can someone explain what I need to do to schedule Media Patrol to run, please?

Hi,

Thank you for choosing Promise Technology, Inc. for your storage needs.

Media Patrol is a routine maintenance procedure that checks the magnetic media on each disk drive and it can be run only on the configured disk arrays and spare drives. In case if there is no configured Disk array then the options in the Background activity will be grayed out.

Note: Media Patrol is concerned with the media itself, not the data recorded on the media.

For any further assistance, please create a web support case in support.promise.com with your user account OR you can reach us on 408-228-1500 Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm PST.

Hi Dinesh

Thanks for your response. I regret I cannot understand what I should do:

Media Patrol works (or appears to commence) without any problem when I run it manually. But I can't get past the 'configuration' error in the scheduler. There is a configured Disk array and the drive appears to be working fine. The options in the Background activity are not greyed. So is there any further advice or link to any comprehensive support material that you can offer, please?

Please check to see what version of Pegasus firmware you are running. If it is earlier than 5.04.0000.57 click Promise Utility at top left and click Check For Updates. This will restart your Mac in order to restart your Pegasus.

Hey Joe...

Thanks for your help...

Promise Utility is currently 3.18.0000.36. Checking for updates offers me 3.20.0000.15. The Subsystem Information tells me that the current Firmware Rev is 5.04.0000.36. Will updating Promise Utility to 3.20.0000.15 also update the Firmware rev to 5.04.0000.57; or are there separate actions required? And if more than one action is required, can you provide a link to a set of clear instructions as to how to proceed, please, as I'm some 600 miles from the hardware?

The device is a Pegasus2 R4; the Mac Pro its hooked to is running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. And I worry that I seem to have to start the Utility twice; the first time it always quits without dialog. So I'd be keen to get this key critical component of my client's system running as smoothly as possible!

With kind regards

JB

It's always a good idea to run all the updates. There's a preference setting to check for updates every time you run Promise Utility. Some will update the utility, some will update the Pegasus, but you only get one at a time, so you need to keep checking multiple times until it says you're up to date.

Try again once you're up-to-date.

Thanks, Joe

I've set aside a few hours tonight to do this.
