Issuing "event -l nvram" in promiseutil (on the old but reliable work horse combination mac mini running mac os 10.10.5, mac mini, Promise2), yields thousands of these lines:

16355 Ctrl 1          Info     Aug 26, 2021 06:46:33 The system is stopped

16356 Ctrl 1          Info     Aug 26, 2021 06:46:42 The system is started

16357 Ctrl 1          Info     Aug 26, 2021 06:48:14 The system is stopped

16358 Ctrl 1          Info     Aug 26, 2021 06:48:22 The system is started

What is the meaning of "The system", these messages, and should I worry?

I came to ask because the unit is said to produce strange sounds occasionally and then blinks a red power button. No other strange or alarming log entries were found however and operation seems normal from a user perspective; all status icons in the GUI Promise Utitlity are green.

The unit is placed in a remote location and only recently the exact physical behaviour became apparent. The unit turns off with the sound of a disk arm that retracts, then in one or two seconds turns back on with a red power button and blue thunderbolt LED. Within moments, the unit is back online, indicated by the blue power button. This pattern repeats about every other minute. No errors are shown in the Promise Utility.

Hi Ard,

It could happen because of loose Thunderbolt connection. Kindly verify the connectivity by changing the Cable/Port in Pegasus and in the MAC.

If the problem still persits,  Please open a case at https://support.promise.com/ with the Service Report.

Steps to save the subsystem report:

1) Open Promise Utility.

2) Click subsystem information icon on the top of the window.

3) Click the lock symbol on the left bottom corner of the screen to unlock the utility.

4) Click on save service report button to save the subsystem report and attach it to the case

Thanks !
