Hi there, I've been getting numerous warnings for the past year that the Promise Mac system extension is a "Legacy Extension" that will stop working in future versions of macOS. I assume there's a new extension in the works. Is there any news or ETA for its release?

Hi Travers,

None of these warnings are for promise drivers.

The non-legacy DEXT Pegasus driver has been available for years.

Hi R P, thanks for your reply. The image above was just for reference. The error I am getting is caused by this driver I have installed, which is the same version as what you posted above. I am using a G-TECHNOLOGY product that I believe has licensed the Pegasus software.

Here is the specific notice, and a WD forum post about it:

Legacy System Extension
Existing software on your system loaded a system extension signed by “Promise Technology Mobile Apps” which will be incompatible with a future version of macOS. Contact the developer for support.

Hi Travers,

If a DEXT driver is installed, by macOS driver policy a legacy KEXT driver for that device will not be loaded.

Be advised that installing a DEXT driver will not uninstall any kernel extensions. You may still get the warnings, I'm not sure.

As macOS has no uninstaller for KEXT drivers, you can manually delete any KEXT driver by opening finder and navigating to the /Library/Extensions folder. Any driver can be dragged into the trash, a password will be needed.
