MacOS 27 and Pegasus 1

System 1 is a Pegasus (gen 1) R6 hanging off an M1 Mac Mini, currently under MacOS 26, firmware 5.04.0000.61, and Promise Utility 4.00.0000.09. Questions are:

1. Will everything continue to work as-is if I upgrade this system to MacOS 27?

2. This version of the Promise Utility is an Intel app, running under Rosetta. It will obviously not work come MacOS 28 - so is there a later, Apple Silicon, utility that is compatible with the gen 1 R6?

3. We also have two Pegasus 2 R4 arrays, currently on an older Intel Mac that we plan to migrate to the M1 Mac Mini host. Same questions apply.

Many thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

You should download the utility from the Pegasus32 downloads page, they are compatible with the Pegasus1 and Pegasus2.

The Pegasus1 and Pegasus2 work well under Sierra and Golden Gate. You will need the Apple Thunderbolt3 to Thunderbolt2 adapter to connect them. Also you will need to install the DEXT driver.

Be advised that you will need to have the latest firmware to use a Pegasus1 or Pegasus2 with an Apple Silicon Mac. The Pegasus1 has the latest firmware, the Pegasus2's should be at 5.04.0000.64.

If a firmware update is needed it is recommended to do the update from the Intel Mac before moving it to the Apple Silicon Mac.
