Mac Pro Late 2013 won't start up when Pegasus 2 R4 connected

When I start my Mac Pro with the Pegasus R4 connected the screen stays black. When I start up without the R4 connected the system starts without any problem.

When I connect the Pegasus later with the Thunderboltcable the Pegasus icon shows on the desktop and everything works fine.

What can I do to solve this problem.

Please update the firmware by clicking Promise Utility at the top left of your screen and clicking Check For Updates.

The first few updates may be software updates, but keep running the check for updates and you should get to the firmware update. This will have you turn it off when it is finished.

If there is still a problem then please look at it in the Apple Disk Utility app and see if first aid finds any problems.

Contact Promise Support by opening a case under your registered products at http://support.promise.com if problems persist after that.

Hello Anton.
I had the same problem with my MacPro late 2013. I have several Pegasus1 and Pegasus2 actually. First, remember not to connect more than a maximum of 3 interfaces per thunderbolt plug. And actually, on the MacPro, you can use for disks like Pegasus only 3 thunderbolt and not 6, as they are on the same bus 2 per 2...
So, to make it short, you have to try to plug your Pegasus on a different thunerbolt. Start slowly, with just your screen and your Pegasus. Remember then using the HDMI will not allow you to use the last thunderbolt... See Apple doc attached. Then restart your Mac. If it does not work, change the Pegasus thunderbolt position on the back of your MacPro. And restart... It took time to me to find the good connections. But now, i took a picture and i reconnect the same way the same interfaces (eg Pegasus1/2, Blu-Ray burners, external HDD, etc... Good luck. Patrick

Hello Patrick,

Thanks for your reaction. I tried everything, upgrading the firmware, but nothing seems to help. After upgrading to Sierra the problems with the black screen are gone!  My Mac pro starts until now without any problems!

Sierra feels a bit slower if I compare it with Yosemite and El Capitano. But I am very glad I did'nt need to start the system without the Pegasus R4 plugged in!

Also good luck, Anton
