Linking ID to DA and LD

Hello colleagues.


  I created 1 on 2 JBOD VTrak J5800s DA0, LD0, DA1, LD1, without inserting disks into the VTtrak E5800f  array itself (see screenshot).
Then I plan to connect 2 JBODs to 2 different VTtrak E5800f, on which DA and LD have already been created (on each DA0 and LD0).

I have questions:


  Are IDs DA and LD (DA0, LD0, DA1, LD1) tied to physical devices, in this caseJBOD VTrak J5800s?


Will there be any conflicts with the DA and LD IDs already existing on the VTtrak E5800f  arrays?

This is very important because existing volumes already contain valuable information.

No, All the RAID information is stored on the disks.

Will there be any conflicts with the DA and LD IDs already existing on the VTtrak E5800f  arrays?

No, when the E5800 boots and reads the disks it will assign the Disk Array IDs sequentially, So even if there was a DA0 on the E5000 and a DA0 on the JBOD, one of the arrays will be assigned as DA1. The LD id's won't change.

The proper procedure is to power down the E5800, then connect the JBOD(s).

You may know this already, but the proper power on/off precedure for a raidhead with attached JBODs is as follows.

Power off:

1. Shutdown the E5800 from WebPAM.

2. When it has shutdown completely, power it off with the power supply switches.

3. Then power off all JBODs with the power supply switches.

Power on:

1. Power on all JBODs. Wait till they have fully booted (they boot quickly).

2. Power on the E5800.
