We currently use a Pegasus 2 R6 on a mac pro with thunderbolt 2

We are intending to acquire a Pegasus 3 R6

Sometimes we need to use both discs: Pegasus 2 and 3 on the same mac pro with thunderbolt 2

We have the following questions we hope you can help:

1 - The Pegasus 3 will work on this Mac Pro  (thunderbolt 2) with an adaptor - thunderbolt 2 to 3?  Is that right?

2-  As we understand we need to install a new drive and utility for the Pegasus 3?

We cannot use the utility/drive we use on our current Pegasus 2, is that right?

3- Can we work with both discs (pegasus 2 and 3) on this computer after installing the new drive for Pegasus 3 or is there a possibility of conflict in terms of drives?

Is there any issues we should be aware of using a Pegasus 3 on a thunderbolt 2 via an adaptor?

Thanks very much

Carlos Ruiz

Hi Carlos,

Please find the answers to your queries.

1. Yes, Pegasus 3 units will work on this Mac computers with Thunderbolt 2 along with the adaptor.

2. You need to install drivers for Pegasus 3 on the MAC. You dont need any drivers for Pegasus 2.

3. You can use both Pegasus 2 and Pegasus 3 at the same time. You can daisy chain them in the below order.

Mac - Pegasus 2 - Pegasus 3 (With the adaptor going to the back of Pegasus 2).

Please be informed that the speed of the Pegasus 3 will be limited to work with Thunderbolt 2 speed as we are using the adaptor. Apart from that , you will not have any issues as we have many customers using this setup.

Thanks !
