Hello,
I have an old pegasus3 r8x8TB, and I am in the process of purchasing new drives (8TB or larger) to replace as single drives fail. So that I will end up with the old pegasus3 'housing' but all new drives inside.
1) how likely would the housing itself fail? vs if I replace all the drives into the old pegasus3 as above, will I essentially have a new machine?
2) if at some point in the future the pegaus3 housing fails, can I buy a new pegasus32 housing only (or, the cheapest r8 with the smallest drives and then just transfer the new drives into the new housing?)
3) can I daisy-chain a pegasus3 and a pegasus32?
4) Are the housing components (connectors, chips, etc) of the pegasus32 r8 series are all identical, regardless of whether their drives are 4tb, 8tb, 10tb ... 18tb, etc? Are there any differences at all?
Thanks -- I'm a bit of a newbie
