Recently my Windows 10 machine has been unable to access my NAS (my Macs connect fine). Looking around on the net it seems that Windows and SMB might be the issue. So in an effort to find the source, does anyone know what version of SMB and/or CIFs these are running? I have the 1GB model so not on the absolute latest firmware.
How do I find out what SMB version I have on my NS6700N

Hi,
Thank you for choosing Promise Technology, Inc. for your storage needs.
Please use the older version of windows operating system like win 7(Win10 is not tested) and try to use SMB 2.1 which should be compatible, also please make sure you have the latest firmware updated with the 2GB RAM for SmartstorNS6700N. In case if you still have issues please create a web support case in support.promise.com for futher investigation.

Hello Dinesh,
Thanks for replying. Sadly I don't have an older version of Windows.
In terms of the latest firmware, I need to upgrade the ram from 1GB to 2GB. Is this possible? What version of SMB does this unit support?
Cheers,
Sam
Hi Sam,
You can upgrade the Memory to 2 GB. NAS x700 is EOL product and support Promise Hardware certified component only.

SMB 2.1 is the version used in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and the same is supported by the unit.
