Hi,
I have a new Pegasus32 R8 32TB connected to a Mac mini M2 Pro running macOS Sequoia?
Any guidance on whether to use APFS or HSF+ formatting for Raid 10
Many thanks,

Hi David,
APFS was designed for SSDs. The Pegasus32 uses spinning disks, HFS+ is recommended. We ship the Pegasus32 formatted with HFS+.
Other customers who have formatted their Pegasus units with APFS complained that the performance became very slow as the disk filled and even after deleting most of the files performance remained slow.
Great, thanks for the info.
This is in conflict with what ChatGPT and GoolgeAI showed so I am glad I asked.

I would not suggest using AI for troubleshooting.
Try only asking AI questions that you know the answer to and see well how it does.
I let chatgpt write some code for me to see what it could do. The code often would not run, and when it did run it did not work. AI does not understand what it is doing, it does not understand the context or intent and it is not smart enough to find out which platform it is writing code for. If you take all the incorrect code posted to forums from people who can't get their code to work, that is part of AI's training material. There is far more bad code posted to forums by people looking for help than good working code.
