Also, the drive is still connected and I can access the data. But the utility is in the state described above.

I have the same situation, well, nearly:

macOS 12.6.1, Promise Utility 4.06.0000.04

Firmware Update is stuck at "Please wait. Firmware update is in progress..." for 20 minutes now.

Any advice?

Hi,

Kindly use the following utility to flash the firmware update again

https://www.promise.com/DownloadFile.aspx?DownloadFileUID=4619

If the issue still arises, kindly register the unit using the serial number by logging into support.promise.com and open a web support ticket with the service report of the unit attached so we could check further.

Steps to save the subsystem report:

1) Open Promise Utility.

2) Click subsystem information icon on the top of the window.

3) Click the lock symbol on the left bottom corner of the screen to unlock the utility.

4) Click on save service report button to save the subsystem report and attach it to the case.

Raoul Schaffner:

I bravely (stupidly) rebooted after about 1hr. Largely took this step because I had a backup for the drive. It rebooted with the updated firmware in place.

Not sure why it was "stuck" but regardless, this worked for me. Obviously not a great situation that caused some heartburn.
